The Grand Mosque

istanbul abu dhabi 399 From the old to the new – this is the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi which was our next destination after Istanbul. White columns were gilded and painted. It was surrounded by gardens and water features that added to the feeling of serenity and quiet. We spent some time in the small library which had some very old religious texts. Istanbul was bustling with tourists at the ancient mosques but this felt much more intimate.
