I rarely see the dark. Off to bed while there is still light in the sky and awake into sunshine. We arrived in Tampa in the afternoon and by the time we toured the hotel and had dinner, suddenly it was dusk and then darkness. It was so exciting walking through the mangroves, wondering what eyes were looking at us and hearing the chirrup of many insects and night birds.
Doesn’t this look like a giant tarantula, below? It is really a spider crab and once I had my eyes focused they were everywhere. Wouldn’t it be fun to go there at Halloween?
At one point the darkening sky turned green. It was eerily beautiful.
It contrasted so beautifully with the pink sunset just before.
More wonderful photos and stories from Tampa to come.
Beautiful pictures π
Scary little thing (I’m not very fond of spiders) π
And the night … oh how I love the night π
Looking forward to more beauties π

I like Tampa Bay, Gary and I looked near there for a place to live! Thanks Kerry for sharing these beautiful pictures! Hope your day is happy! π

As much as I enjoyed it as a vacation destination – the driving was terrible! Worse than Dallas and Houston… Thank you, Terry, π

Yes very true! They don’t have the ‘big’ highways like we do here in Texas. π

Green skies always preceded hail storms here. Though it’s close to blue on the spectrum, it’s just not a natural color for the sky to be!

It did precede an amazing thunderstorm with spectacular lightning strikes. Now I know… We can’t see these changes in light in our forest but there is a yellow cast to the sky.

Nice pics. I only know of Tampa because of its sports teams. Much the same reason that many small English & Scottish towns are on the map at all π It looks a cool destination in its own right though.

Hi Roy. It’s actually a strange place, friendly folks but very impolite driving? The ethnic mix is Cuban, Italian, Jewish and Anglo – odd but interesting.

The group that sends chills down my spine is,
The Two Types of Tourist..
1. The Terminally Lost and Confused, that clog the highways and byways of the Sunshine State with driving slow in the wrong lanes..
2. The Fast and Furious Tourist.. They’re on vacation but think every interstate is a lane in the Daytona 500..
And you can’t tell by state plates.. The rental companies are booming, so the tourists make it look like it’s us floridians π¬
Your in Fla, I’m scheduled to be home on the 15th.. Will you guys still be there ???

Sorry, Pan, we have long since left – it was the last week of May. Sorry to insult your state’s drivers – LOL! We were going to buy a house in Sarasota and completely understand the strange mix of drivers.

Florida has some crazy drivers too.. they aren’t exempt lol.. sigh.. I wish I was home when you were there.. If you guys trek on over again, give me some lead time so I can try to get a load home when you do.. π

I will let you know when we next hit Florida – it would be fun to meet up. We often book trips at the very last minute, depending on my health, the aged cats health and work. π

It would be great fun to talk in real time face to face π The internet is great but when you really enjoy who you’re talking to, nothing compares to seeing the laughter and expressions in person..

Yes I would, I’ve already heard you on youtube and I had a Scottish man work for me when I was in the restoration biz.. He had a loud infectious laugh too and fun to work with, he made the days go by with stories and humor .. A happy Scottish trait ? π

What a beautiful place! And yes, it is true – a green sky will precede a storm and I’ll be they are spectacular there.

There is beauty in darkness. Also, I love to see black and white photographs. There is an art to them as well.

There really is a beauty in black and white photos. I had some professional shots taken a few years ago for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and the black and white ones were amazing.

Are they on the blog?

No, unfortunately, the photographer insisted that they not be reproduced in anyway. I might ask her for permission, if I give her credit.
