The Christmas That Was

Christmas 2019, Fredericksburg, Texas

This was a completely different post a few hours ago. In essence, I revealed how miserable and anxious I was feeling about the upcoming holidays. On reflection, I realized that’s not what I want to share with my friends. Instead I hope you enjoy these pretty pictures from Christmas 2019 which we spent in central Texas with the most glorious weather.

The Christmas Tree and Decorations at Fredericksburg 2019

There will be happy holidays and celebrations in the future. Please keep safe and warm. 🎄

  1. I have to agree. I have unsubscribed from many blogs because one can be overwhelmed by negativity. Your photo of the Christmas tree reminds me of our visit to Wursburg Germany last December (including the sunshine). Your town looks delightful.
I firmly believe that we can make this Christmas a beautiful one by tapping into the magic or essence of Christmas and being sensible.
    Stay Safe.

    1. It gave me so much pleasure to look at those photos of Fredericksburg, Pit. The weather was fantastic but I think my original mood was influenced by the below freezing weather! The squirrels are literally knocking at the back door…

      1. It was quite coolish this time, and frequently overcast, and in addition to that, we had to ut it one day short [more about that in a few days on my blog]. So we did not do very much. But I’d really like to go there for the whooping cranes.

  2. I would love a bit of sunshine! Your pictures are lovely.
Minus 10 here⛄️❄️❄️❄️ Keep on telling everyone to look for the positives. I’m trying to believe what I preach.
Hope you have the loveliest weeks in the lead up to Christmas.
    Love Anne x

    1. Thank you so much, Anne. You are often in my mind as one of our essential workers. If I was still working, I might have some perspective but I am grateful for what I have. We have some lovely township decorations this year, so I might go photograph them, Much love to you. K x 💕

  3. Fredericksburg looks like a charming town! Love the wooden tower behind the gigantic Christmas tree.
I also tend to be a Grinch, but I write my ramblings in my journal. (You may have noticed that I tend not to share many personal details online.) In my experience, negative feelings become stronger if they are pushed away instead of being accepted and worked through. There’s nothing wrong with positivity, but feeling obligated to be positive just makes me feel guilty for not being that way.
I believe this is the longest comment I’ve ever written on ypur blog! 😊

    1. I so appreciate your understanding, Mags. Right now I feel angry, impotent and miserable about our societal chaos – you know where I live! Despite my mental illness, I can usually see the bright side of life but this year has just overwhelmed me with the lack of contact. I miss my job at the airport and the sense of perspective it gave me. Sometimes a poignant blog can reach out to people but the original post was not good. I do keep a journal – you should see the posts I have abandoned… dystopian hell! Festive Greetings to my favorite fellow Grinch. K x

  4. Don’t give up on Christmas!! I felt the same, let’s skip it!! But I changed my mindset and I’m creating new traditions. Christmas isn’t lost, yes it will be different, but let’s embrace new traditions.🎄I will be hosting a Virtual Christmas Party! 🎅🏽 This month will be with ups and downs and that’s fine, accept it. Just in case I can bring a little joy to your day here is my blogpost about it. https://truthfulteatalks.com/2020/11/24/how-to-host-a-virtual-christmas-party/

I will be engaging in #3TsMagicalDecember where I will focus on Self-care. End the year with Acts for me and find the energy for 2021! 📩

  5. After scrolling down for hours I finally got to the bottom of your comments! <Slight exaggeration<! More seriously, what a beautiful Christmas tree, and I would love ONE day of the sun instead of these endless foggy days! Happy holidays!!
