Sore eyes!

This photo is a bit blurry and that’s exactly how my eyes have been feeling. I have chronic dry eyes that I treat with OTC eyedrops but this episode was so bad that my eye surface had scratches on them. My eye doctor tried everything in her arsenal but finally put punctal plugs in my tear ducts to save the tears which were evaporating in 1 second. πŸ‘€ My poor peepers felt like the Sahara desert. Yet again, the reason is a mystery and a blood test looking for Sjogren’s syndrome proved nothing.

As a result of all this, I am going to take a little break from digital devices to rest my eyes. Looking forward to catching up with all WordPress friends in a while. Keep healthy!

  1. I’ve heard of people using cold pressed hexaine free castor oil drops in their eyes at night, and the ones who mentioned this have had really good results – 2-3 drops in each eye at bedtime for 2 months will apparently leech proteins out of the lens and eliminate cataracts. I’ve also heard it used successfully for macular degeneration, but have no idea if this could help your situation … Do figure it is worth mentioning in case it could be an option… there are apparently more than one types of castor oil, so it was stressed to me that the one for eyes had to be cold pressed hexaine free.

  2. Aww Kerry, I’m sorry you have to deal with this. It’s funny you wrote it given the worsening dry eyes I’ve had lately (autoimmune Sjogrens, so dry nose and mouth too). I use OTC drops but sometimes it just gets really bad and I’m not too sure why. The optician said last year about blocked ducts so I don’t know if that’s still the case. Lately I’ve had a lot of blurring, including when I’ve been driving which is a bit of a worry. Have they checked the ducts aren’t blocked at all? Sometimes these things are just a mystery as to why they happen, which is very frustrating. I hope the plugs can help, along with the drops and warm compresses and a little rest.

    • Thank you, Caz. I may still have Sjogren’s or another auto-immune issue because the tests aren’t certain. I feel your pain – my vision has been very blurry at times. Currently I am trying the Sjogren’s diet which is identical to the lowering cholesterol diet. πŸ˜€ I feel I might turn into a squirrel…

  3. I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing health problems, Kerry. It’s important to take breaks from social media because studies show that spending too much time scrolling can increase feelings of stress, anxiety and it’s also bad for our overall health. Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Take care. Sending you lots of love and hugs. Aiva xxx

  4. Well my suggestion may be worthless but my own dry eyes do seem to have improved a lot since I was prescribed B12 injections and vitamin D, as I had a deficiency in these vitamins (seen in routine blood tests). I really can’t think of anything else that might have contributed. I hope your condition will improve soon, best of luck! πŸ™„πŸ˜ƒ
